It isn’t the hair that blocks the drain. It’s what glues it together.
The bacteria break down the soap, sebum, dead skin and cosmetic residue that glue hair into a plug. Once the glue is gone, water washes the hair away. No chlorine, no caustic soda, no damage to your pipes.

- Overnightat least 8 hours to work
You’re standing in water in the shower and the basin takes ages to empty
Hair alone doesn’t stick to a pipe. Soap, sebum and cosmetics form a sticky layer (biofilm) that traps hair and builds the blockage, month after month.
- Water pools in the shower tray while you wash
- The basin takes minutes to empty
- An unpleasant smell from the plughole
- Tiny drain flies in the bathroom
It breaks down the glue, not the hair
Pour in a scoop
20 g straight into the shower, bath or basin drain.
Bacteria wake up
Warm water activates them and lactose gives them energy to start.

What this product won’t do
It won’t dissolve hair
Keratin is too tough. The product removes what glues the hair together, and water washes it away.
It won’t remove dropped objects
A cap, a toy or a mechanical blockage has to come out by hand or be removed by a plumber.
It won’t work in 15 minutes
The bacteria need at least 8 hours, ideally overnight.
What our customers ask
When will I see a difference?
With slow drains, after the first course of 3–5 evenings. Old biofilm clears gradually, which is why regular use matters.
Is it safe for septic tanks and treatment plants?
Yes. It doesn’t kill the bacteria in your septic tank or treatment plant; it supports them.
Can I also use chemical unblockers?
Not at the same time. Chemicals kill the bacteria in the product. After a chemical unblocker, rinse the drain well with water and wait at least 24 hours.
Does it help with drain flies in the bathroom?
Indirectly, yes. It isn’t an insecticide, but it breaks down the biofilm the larvae feed on, so the cycle is broken.
Can I use it in the kitchen?
For grease in the kitchen sink, BioMe Kitchen Drain Unblocker or BioMe Drain Easer is a better fit.
